總統府3日晚間表示，馬英九總統將於7日前往新加坡，與中國大陸領導人習近平會面，針對兩岸議題交換意見，雙方不會簽署任何協議、不會發表任何聲明。總統預計5日親自召開國際記者會，向國人報告。
關於「馬習會」，我方先前希望能在北京APEC場合進行，但最後破局，如今確定將在新加坡登場。
總統府發言人陳以信3日晚間表示，馬英九總統將於7日前往新加坡，與中國大陸領導人習近平會面，就兩岸議題交換意見。
陳以信強調，總統此行目的在鞏固兩岸和平，雙方不會簽署任何協議，也不會發表聯合聲明。陳以信：『(原音)馬總統此行目的在於鞏固兩岸和平，維持台海現狀，不會簽署任何協議，不會發表聯合聲明。』
陸委會主委夏立言4日將召開記者會，公開說明此行的意義、諮商過程與安排細節；行政院長毛治國與總統府秘書長曾永權也將於4日先後向立法院長王金平及國會各黨團說明。馬總統則將於5日召開國際記者會，親自向全體國人報告。
陳以信強調，兩岸領導人會面一向是雙方領導人追求的目標，過去前總統李登輝與陳水扁均曾對外表達過此一立場。馬總統近年來也多次重申在「適當時機、適當場合、適當身分」下，不排斥與大陸領導人見面。
